Slovakia's introduction of a mileage tax on 1 January 2010 has passed off far from smoothly, with the border posts descending into chaos.
The introduction of the MAUT in Slovakia has resulted in queues several kilometres long at the border posts. The reason? Too few on-board units are currently available at service stations.
Many transport operators have also been complaining of malfunctions with card payments, an accusation which is refuted by the system's manager SkyToll.
Slovakian hauliers are planning to set up road blocks to protest against this chaos.
