New transport corridor from Turkey to central Europe

After opening the new highway Egnatia, which is connecting the Turkish-Greek border with Igoumenitsa, a well located ferry port in north of Greece, it is possible to transit more save and without delays. The road is presently toll free. Distance between Istanbul and Igoumenitsa is about 945 km. At Ipsala border is a duty free diesel station available too.

From Igoumenitsa there are several ferry connections daily to Italy. Transit time to the port of Bari is only 8 to 10 hours and to Ancona 15 hours.

The truck can avoid quite risky roads in Bulgaria and Romania as well as strict axle weigth control in Hungary. Less traffic congestion. Less risks for accidents. During the ferry crossing the driver can have his resting time as per EU law 561/2006. Usually one day of transittime can be saved. With the competitive ferry rates we can offer to UND member it is also moneywise an alternative to the risky overland driving.

The service office United Ferryboat Agencies in the port of Igoumenitsa is specialized in handling Turkish trucks. If a truck will miss his booked ferry connection, he will be automatically booked on the next available ferry departure without any additional fees.

Safe parking is available in the port area of Igoumenitsa. The office in Igoumenitsa can offer also landbridge ferryrates for Italy to Spain or for France to England or from Germany to Scandinavia.
