It is now May 2009 and the crisis has firmly taken hold in all areas of economic life. Road transport has suffered a vertigoinducing fall in activity of between 20 and 40%, or even more in some areas of specialism. To help ride out this fierce storm, however, there is a whole raft of 'anti-crisis' measures that could be taken, first and foremost by the public authorities and relevant authorities, but also by the transport companies themselves. Because inevitably, recession must be accompanied by rationalisation.
